Baraha is a program that allows computer users to install Indian language software on their computers. This allows them to type in a number of languages, including: Tulu, Hindi and Kannada.

Review:

When it comes to typing in different languages on a computer, it can be challenging. After all, most people never need another language set up on their computers, and as such, it's not a feature that is in high demand. However, there is a program out there that allows users to type in Indian languages: Baraha.

The best thing about Baraha is that it adds support for typing in a number of languages. This includes the following: Kannada, Konkani, Tulu, Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Assamese and Oriya. This in itself is amazing and beats adding each language individually to a computer that doesn't traditionally come with it.

Although Baraha is a useful program, it has its shortcomings. First, most Windows computers give users the option to add different regions. For example, using a United States-based computer and adding “Japanese” in the region setting allows the user to switch the keyboard between the two countries. This even allows the user to install software on an English machine that might have otherwise not worked. This is something that Baraha does not do. If a user is only adding one region, it might be easier to just add the region on the computer.

That being said, Baraha does work extremely well. It can be used to create emails, blogs and other documents. The way it works is simple. User can just type what they want to say in the Baraha program and then copy it into the email that they are writing.

Another drawback to Baraha is that it is not free. There is no subscription fee, transfer fee or upgrade fee, but the fact remains that users still have to buy the program to use it. Once they buy it, however, they are free to transfer the program from one computer to another for the rest of their lives.

Pro:

  • Offers support for a number of Indian languages
  • No subscription fee, transfer fee or upgrade fee
  • Easy to use and works with emails, blogs, documents and much more

Con:

  • Is cheaper and easier to install other languages on a computer under “Region” settings
  • The program is not free
